Ever stood on the feet of the sea!? Ever been on a dusk date
with a river!? Ever listened to the waves, have you!?
When I first met the sea, I could not comprehend it's language and lyrics as it christened my tiny feet. I was way too scared that the sea might take me away with it as it takes the sand and the shells I adore. I used to get intimidated by the high waves sailing towards me like colossal yachts. I still remember that day when I had dared to step close to it, and it had come rushing from far away to engulf my feet, with its jaws wide open. It even carried away my transient footprints which I had left on the sand. The glistening shore would often outshine my own light. And how could the little me have ever let anybody outshine herself!? Never! I was that ambitious!

Today, when the sea narrated me these stories, I was sitting
at its feet, all humble and deserted. Today, I myself wanted it to carry me
into its never-ending infinites. I wanted it to talk to me because that was
perhaps the best music that could soothe my ears and soul right then. I was so
empty! Even my breaths would echo in my soul. The huge waves seemed like
envelopes to me which I wanted to wrap myself into! Today I wanted the shore
and the sea to lend me some light in my lost darkness. Those jaws now seemed
amiable because the world's 'amiability' had shown it's real colours to me. I
wanted the winds to skim through me and take away all the negativity I had
absorbed from this world. I wanted the sun to keep shining as I tried to
rebuild my broken sand-castles. Yes! Things had changed and so had I!
Paolini had rightly claimed, "The sea
is emotion incarnate. It loves, hates, and weeps. It defies all attempts to
capture it with words and rejects all shackles. No matter what you say about
it, there is always that which you can't."
So as the city-lights call me away from my own light, I
gather some peace in pieces of shells as a consolation and weave them into this
piece of writing, with those words from the shore!
